Big Gaming Week Wine Event - The Reds!

Same deal as the last post. Now we're onto the reds!

  • Yalumba Shiraz Viognier South Australia 2010. Lots of acid in the palate. Otherwise a bit meh. "Plum pudding, blackcurrant jam, doesn't get same-y; it tastes like Mahogany smells". Room rating A-; Personal rating B-.

  • 3 Stones Marlborough, 2010 Pinot Noir. Stonefruit and spice nose. Mid-tannins, spice. No apple finish. Provoked discussion of problems with this kind of wine tasting. Room rating B; Personal rating A.

  • The Kings Wrath Marisco Vineyards 2010 Pinot Noir. Best name of the afternoon, so far. Room rating B+; Personal rating B.

  • Russian Jack Pinot Noir 2011. Quite thin. Took too long to describe, "it's kind of insipid", generally meh. It does what you'd expect, just. Room rating A- to C; Personal rating, towards the low end of that.

  • Taylors Clare Valley Shiraz 2009. Rich berry and stone fruit and spice. Possibly best of the afternoon.
